So the other day I finshed reading this book called Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Wow, just wow.
I feel compelled to write about this book, even if my little review isn't so insightful.

I belive I would recommend this book for anyone, teenagers especially, who have struggled with depression. I've only had a few books touch me the way this one has. Especially during the last few pages. I was fighting tears of sadness, frustration, anger, happiness. My heart was racing with anticipation. I felt sweat bead into my palms. The ending broke me completely.
The way the novel is written is extraordinary. Just the syntax alone gives you a picture of of the feelings and thoughts of the main character, Melinda. Most curse words are censored in a way that brings a touch of black humor to the book... but if you can read this book and not be reminded of yourself at some point and have to cover your mouth to prevent her lower lip from quivering, you have absolutely no business reading it.
Speak, in my opinion, is Extraordinary.
The film is also not too bad. The lead role is played by Kristen Stewart and, in all honesty, this was the only role she can pull off. Personally, I find Kristen to be a HORRID actress. I'm my opinion, she's ugly, plain and just flat out annoying. But her lack of range of emotions works perfectly for this film.
